Each year, ahead of the Award submission windows closing, the judges of the Mairtín Crawford Award run workshops. At the sessions they spoke broadly about their own experiences of Awards – as writers and judges; the specificities of the Mairtín Crawford Award and practical approaches to assembling and presenting work for submission.
When asked about what she looks for in a Short Story, Lucy Caldwell said,
People often ask as a judge what are you looking for & the only answer you can ever give is 'I have no idea but I'll know it when I see it'.
Although the Submission window has now closed, you can watch recordings of the online workshops below. We hope you find these useful for any Award you might submit your work to.
