An Evening with Alastair Campbell

Join us for an evening overlooking the pitch at the newly refurbished Windsor Park as we welcome to this year’s Belfast Book Festival the acclaimed journalist, broadcaster, former Downing Street Press Secretary and now prolific novelist, Alastair Campbell. Alistair will be joined by BBC’s Seamus McKee to discuss his life, work and latest novel Saturday Bloody Saturday.

A fascinating and engaging speaker, we are delighted to welcome Alastair back to the city with a novel that cites Martin McGuinness as a source for much of the background details. Co-written by former professional footballer Paul Fletcher, Saturday Bloody Saturday has garnered rave reviews for its attention to detail, authenticity and thrilling conclusion.

Against the backdrop of the national stadium, this is a must-see event at this year's festival and fitting event to conclude the first night of Belfast Book Festival 2018.

Football manager Charlie Gordon is struggling with one defeat after another at the club he loves.

Only a decent Cup run is keeping him in work, but tensions are running close to the surface ahead of the next round: Chelsea away.

As the country prepares for a general election, one of the most dangerous political assassinations in the IRA's history is being planned in London. An active service unit await the critical signal to proceed.

Both sides will converge on the capital for a result that will shake everyone's lives, with consequences far beyond football.

This event is sponsored by House Belfast.
