WHAT'S ON THIS YEAR?
The Belfast Book Festival 2014 features international stars such as financial experts Max Keiser, Stacy Herbert and Mitch Feierstein, former Poet Laureate Sir Andrew Motion and Radio 3's Ian McMillan.
If politics is your thing, Ann Widdecombe and Alan Johnson will be gracing the Crescent stage on Sunday 15th following a Saturday evening with the likes of Paul Muldoon and the amazing performance poet Elvis McGonagall.
Award-winning Irish writer Joseph O'Connor will be reading from his new book The Thrill of it All while new and emerging voices such as Liz Nugent, Emma Heatherington and Christine Hammill, will enthrall audiences with their writing.
The annual poetry slam returns along with comedy performances by Owen O’Neill plus Scottish poet Kenneth Steven and local musician Colin Reid team up in what promises to be a beautiful performance of Steven’s work A Song Among the Stones.
Writer, journalist and film-maker Jonathan Meades reads from his much anticipated memoir An Encyclopaedia of Myself and if sport is what you are looking for the great Patrick ‘Rala’ O’Reilly, bagman for the Irish Rugby Team, will be sharing some unique memories!
And why not bring along your junior bookworms to the Family Day at Lower Crescent Park, with lots of quirky events to keep the entire family entertained.
We also have a series of events, Book Festival Extra, that take place before and after the festival, featuring the likes of Pierre Lemaitre, Paul Charles and the great Mary Kenny.
